First Friday Group

About First Friday
First Friday was created in 1994 by a small group of local women who came together to fight breast cancer in South Texas. First Friday has held annual fundraising events featuring breast cancer survivor celebrity speakers like journalist Linda Ellerbee, author Kathy Latour, actress Marsha Wallace, actor/husband & wife team Jill Eikenberry and Michael Tucker, and actress Diahann Carroll.

Proceeds from the celebrity events, along with CHRISTUS Spohn Health System's annual contributions, have underwritten thousands of free mammograms for South Texas women.

Partnering with First Friday, CHRISTUS Spohn Health System's Breast Care Program brings together all aspects of breast cancer awareness and detection, emphasizing education and community outreach. All CHRISTUS Spohn Hospitals (Alice, Beeville, Corpus Christi and Kingsville) offer mammograms and participate in the First Friday free mammogram program.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
